When two components must meet in a corner, each piece generally requires half of the measured corner angle. The SM-KS automatically determines this bisecting angle, eliminating manual calculations and allowing the correct setting to be transferred quickly to the compatible KAPEX saw.

The SM-KS is suitable for the Festool KAPEX KS 60, KSC 60 and KS 120.
It captures both internal and external corner angles.
The bisecting angle required for two equal mitre cuts is generated automatically.
The angle can be transferred to the KS 120 using its dual-line laser reference or to the KS 60 using its spotlight and cutting reference.
The KS 60 includes a designated position for neatly storing the bevel on the machine.
The bevel does not replace careful workpiece positioning, clamping and verification before cutting.

Pro Tips

Measure the corner at the same height and position where the moulding or skirting board will be installed.
Make sure both bevel arms contact the corner surfaces fully without being obstructed by dust, adhesive or uneven projections.
Lock or hold the captured setting carefully so it cannot move while being transferred to the saw.
Mark each workpiece as left or right before cutting to prevent reversing the mitre orientation.
Use a short offcut for the first test cut when working with expensive moulding or an unusually irregular corner.
Check the fit before applying adhesive or fixing the finished components permanently.

How to Use

Identify whether the required joint is an internal or external corner.
Place the SM-KS bevel into or around the corner at the position where the finished components will meet.
Open or close the bevel arms until both sides sit firmly against the corresponding surfaces.
Confirm that the bevel has captured the complete corner angle without gaps or interference.
Remove the bevel carefully while preserving the captured bisecting-angle setting.
Place the bevel against the compatible KAPEX saw&s angle reference.
Adjust the saw until its laser or cutting reference aligns with the angle indicated by the bevel.
Secure the saw adjustment and clamp the correctly orientated workpiece.
Make a test cut, check the joint and perform any minor adjustment before cutting the finished components.

Safety

Disconnect the mitre saw from its power supply before transferring the angle or adjusting the machine.
Keep hands away from the blade and cutting path while setting or checking the angle.
Confirm that all saw-angle adjustments are securely locked before making a cut.
Clamp the workpiece securely and support long mouldings or boards appropriately.
Wear suitable eye, ear and respiratory protection when operating the mitre saw.
